Baptismal Font. Both foot and basin of the font are octagonal in shape. Eight is a symbol of eternity and the kingdom of heaven. It signifies the power of baptism that vouchsafes eternal life as a member of Christ's Church. Typical of the early Gothic of the late 13th century is the simple tracery of delicate trefoils.
