Sepulchral Slab of Gottfried of Spira, Commander of the Order of St. John (+1329). Alongside sepulchral slabs with reliefs, a new technique arose as early as the 12th century with lines being incised into the stone. Far less expensive to produce, such slabs became increasingly popular around 1300. Nevertheless, the monument has a courtly-elegant appearance.
