Als première partie und der contre-partie entsteht somit ein Möbelpaar, das im Dekor exakt übereinstimmt und dabei farblich ein Positiv und Negativ bildet.2Englisch2010The tall commode is recognizable as a piece of Nuremberg furniture by its central locking system, which locks all the others from the top drawer. Reference is made to the Boulle marquetry technique with the silvery and golden brass and pewter inlays. This is often seen in French furniture from the end of the 17th century and was exceedingly popular at court. Typical of the technique, named after the Parisian cabinetmaker André Charles Boulle (1642-1732) is the interplay between ornamental panels of the same design but made of entirely different materials. Two pieces of furniture thus become the première partie and the contre-partie, with identical decoration, but positive and negative in terms of color.Almuth Klein, Petra Krutisch: Schränke und Kommoden 1650-1800 im Germanischen Nationalmuseum, 2 Bde.
