In the early 1970s, Klaus Fußmann surprisingly chose still lifes and interiors as the subject of his art. They are filled with the trash accumulated in his studio. In his still lifes, the artist was less interested in precisely rendering the object and the furnishings than in the overall effect of the painting: The oddly heightened vantage point of the viewer and the atmospheric depth of the background seem to transform the object-filled studio into a landscape.
