Neben der Bildhauerei beansprucht die Zeichnung einen gewichtigen Platz in Waldemar Grzimeks Werk. Der Einsatz unterschiedlichster Zeichenmittel und eines vielfältigen graphischen Vokabulars kennzeichnen seine Figurenblätter: Mit zarter wie auch ungestümer Linienführung gestaltete er Körper von sublimer Plastizität oder umrissbetonter Flächigkeit. Grzimek, der in der DDR wie auch in der BRD wirkte, beteiligte sich seit 1950 intensiv an den Debatten um den Sozialistischen Realismus in der Plastik.

His figure sheets are characterized by the use of varied drawing instruments and a diverse graphic vocabulary: With delicate as well as impetuous lines he created bodies of sublime plasticity or of contour-heavy two-dimensionality. Beginning in 1950, Grzimek, who worked both in the GDR and the FRG, intensively participated in the debates on Socialist Realism in plastic art.
