Vitrinentext
Graceful lines fill this sheet in flowing sweeps. In it, Theodor Werner obtained plastic effects by means of cross hatches and parallel hatches. Two points in the upper part of the sheet inevitably suggest a pair of eyes, allowing the viewer to make out a winged figure in the drawing. However, Werner’s title for the work opposes any figurative interpretations. At the time of creation of the drawing, the artist was already one of the main representatives of abstract art in Germany.
