1926 reiste Karl Hubbuch zum ersten Mal nach Paris. Dort zeichnete er den 1889 errichteten Eiffelturm in ungewohnter Perspektive. Wegen seiner kühnen Eisenkonstruktion wurde das Bauwerk von den Zeitgenossen zwar als technische Meisterleistung gewürdigt, in seinem städtebaulichen Umfeld jedoch als Fremdkörper empfunden. Durch die Distanz zur Randbebauung im Hintergrund und das kleine Flugzeug am Himmel vermittelt die Zeichnung ein Gefühl für die Dimensionen des umstrittenen Pariser Wahrzeichens.
