Beschriftung verrät, dass der Künstler als Kind unter dem Obstbaum spielte. Lebschée verknüpft hier demnach eine Naturbeobachtung mit einem individuellen, ganz bestimmten Baum, der in München im Garten des Wirtshauses "Zum Lettinger" an der heutigen Isartalstraße stand. Mit großer Akribie sind Partien des knorrigen Stammes, des verzweigten Astwerks mit seinen frischen und vertrockneten Trieben und Blättern wiedergegeben.
