Jh. häufig auf Kabinett- und Wappenscheiben. Neben Szenen aus dem Leben Christi und Mariä sind auch häufig Episoden aus dem Alten Testament dargestellt. Sie werden von christlichen Sinnsprüchen, Tugenden oder Allegorien wie Glaube, Liebe und Hoffnung begleitet. Glaubensspezifisch sind die Bildprogramme: So griff etwa Pfarrer Lang mit der Fürbitte im Bildtypus der Heilstreppe ein altes Motiv auf, das in der Gegenreformation wieder neue Bedeutung erhielt.2Englisch28.10.2008Cabinet Panel of the Church Minister Kaspar Lang (1631-1691) from Frauenfeld. Clear and pot-metal glass; black vitreous paint, yellow stain and enamel colors. Biblical themes and Christian allegories are often shown in 17th c. cabinet and heraldic panels. Scenes from the Life of Christ and the Virgin as well as episodes from the Old Testament are also frequently depicted. They are accompanied by Christian adages, virtues or allegories such as faith, love, hope. The iconography is specific to different confessions.
