Durch Beschneidung des Blattes ist die umseitige Bezeichnung nur noch teilweise erhalten. Die Jahreszahl 1857 als Datierung des Bildes ist noch erkennbar. In diesem Jahr hatte Stolberg eine Reise nach Südtirol, nach Tirol in die Gegenden Salzburg und Innsbruck und in die Steiermark nach Voitsberg, Gösting und Krems unternommen. Der Name der Burg ist nicht mit Sicherheit lesbar (mögliche Lesarten: Wertenstein, Weilenstein, Weitenstein, Weuenstein, Werlenstein. Alle Varianten auch mit den Anfangsbuchstaben V oder H möglich.
